Daily movement: a practical case for using your body most days

20 June 2023

A practical case for moving most days in Byron Bay, and when pain that stops you moving is a reason to book an osteopath at Retrain Health today.

Byron Bay makes movement easy to romanticise and still easy to skip. A desk, a phone, a long drive — then a weekend attempt to make up for it in the surf or at the gym, which is how a lot of backs and calves get grumpy.

Regular movement is associated with better long-term health. The practical version is smaller: most days, move in a way you can repeat.

Walk the beach path. Ride to town. Swim. Surf on a smaller day. Strength work twice a week if your joints tolerate it. The activity you enjoy is the one you will still be doing in August.

If pain has you avoiding movement altogether, that is a reason to book, not to wait for motivation. An osteopath can assess whether graded movement is appropriate.
